Drums for Solar is a U.S non-governmental organization designed to foster exchange of indigenous art and cultural products of one community for the technological energy resources of another. The “Global Exchange Initiative”, its main program, seeks to promote African traditional arts and crafts by mean of e-commerce. The revenue derived from the on-line sales of African crafts is used to purchase solar energy panels to provide renewable energy in Africa. In Mali, Drums for Solar has established a partnership with community organizations in Bamako, Moutoukoula, Kati, Koutiala and in the Dogon country.
